ABOUT THE BOOK

This work is about Gwagwalada and the Bassa people, the original inhabitants thereof. It contains the tradition and culture of the people. Being part and parcel of the Federal Capital Territory, and the entire Bassa People of Nigeria; Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue and some parts of Niger States, it depicts their antecedents from present day Kebbi State. Their settlement in Gwagwalada dates back to 1683 with their first chief after defeating the Hausa-Fulani jihadists. The formative years of the Federal Capital Territory began in Gwgwalada. Thus, the various Federal facilities situated in the burgeoning city.
